Late again
Mary, Stuart and me were invited to MattP's birthday bash last month. Pootle was at the vet's (more on this in another post) and Mary wanted to be close at hand, so I ended up driving to London on my own.

Mary had booked a hotel room at Latimer Place, so I drove there and tried to catch an underground train into London, but the Metropolitan line was closed for signal work so I drove further in and caught the tube at Harrow-on-the-Hill. This meant I arrived late at the Royal Institution, but not too late to have a very enjoyable evening.

I have finally got around to friending the people I met there. Hello!

Today I am expecting friends from Scotland to turn up and take my Landrover away. I have finally given up on the restoration project. The long-range electric car is my current top priority.

One of my bad habits is not speaking enough in social situations. I could have told you all about it at the party, but I wibbled about tube trains instead.
Ho-hum.

My Landrover is a 1969 110" IIb Forward Control drop-side pick-up. I bought it in Portsmouth in 1993 and drove it as far as Stratford-upon-Avon before it stopped, with the RAC taking me the rest of the way home to Cheadle Hulme.

I have spent the last 15 years failing to get it back on the road. It is now on its way to Edinburgh, where Andrew WINOLJ will do all the work I failed to, and then use it for its intended purpose in the hills around Glen Coe.

Perhaps we can go see it love, in all its shining glory, once it is up and running again... I could handle a romantic weekend in Glen Coe ;-)

Sound a rather familiar story.....
I have a 1977 ex-military LWB sat at [info]tabatha_yeddap's - it used to be my daily transport until 2003 and the intention was always to restore it but nothing has happen in the last 5 years!

Mind you - a IIb is a much rarer and more interesting beast!
